Protectol® BN

Protectol® BN is an odorless almost white crystalline powder that contains > 99%
bronopol. It is highly soluble in water and provides a broad spectrum
activity against bacteria, yeasts and moulds across a wide pH range.
Protectol® BN also inhibits the enzyme urease and reacts with
thiol-groups-containing compounds (e.g. mercaptens, organic sulphides) to
form less odorours compounds.



It is used as a biocidal active substance and biocidal product for
preservation in home care, and industrial products and for microbiological
control of industrial processes (e.g. paper production, water treatment, oil
exploration). Moreover, Protectol® BN is applied in chemical toilets to make
use of the unique efficacy profile of bronopol providing malodor control by
antimicrobial activity, scavenging of thiol-compounds and urease inhibition.
