Launches connect science, nature, and environmental responsibility for high-performance formulations
Brazil, São Paulo - September, 15 - How are climate, social, and behavioral transformations shaping the future of personal care? BASF will address this with "Beyond Beauty: unlocking the future for a transforming world" at in-cosmetics Latin America 2025. This concept views beauty as a dynamic and evolving entity, interconnected with global changes.
In this context, BASF presents adaptive and resilient solutions that can respond to contemporary challenges and anticipate consumer needs. The industry event will take place on September 23 and 24 in São Paulo, at the São Paulo Expo Center Norte, booth G-50.
"In-cosmetics Latin America is a pivotal opportunity for us to engage with our customers and partners, showcasing how BASF is at the forefront of transforming the personal care industry", says Fabio Cahen, director of Personal Care at BASF for South America. More than just an ingredient supplier, the company presents itself as a strategic ally for businesses seeking to innovate and grow sustainably. With extreme temperatures, varying humidity, and intense radiation, new demands arise in skin and hair care. “At the same time, there is increasing awareness about the environmental impact of our choices, and we are committed to driving this green transformation in the industry.”
The company's highlights and launches at the event will align with consumer expectations for solutions that go beyond beauty: products that adapt to the climate, promote health, and safeguard the planet's future.
BASF brings Verdessence® Maize, its latest launch, to the South American market: a plant-based biopolymer that is 100% derived from renewable feedstocks and readily biodegradable, ideal for natural and organic cosmetics. As an alternative to PVP and VP/VA, it offers excellent performance in sprays and lightweight mousses. This is the first biopolymer in the Verdessence® line developed specifically for hair applications, with results equivalent to synthetic polymers in stiffness and curl retention.
Among the highlights in the extensive sunscreen portfolio is the water-soluble filter Uvinul® TS Hydro, which helps reduce the oily feel of formulations, meeting the demand for more fluid textures. It is highly effective against UVA-I and UVA-II rays and acts as a color stabilizer. Additionally, visitors will be able to explore the digital tool that supports sunscreen formulation, the "Sunscreen Simulator", which features enhanced functionalities and has been integrated into the market intelligence and new product development service, D'lite.
Among the bioactives, the launch of Oximony™ will be featured in the "Innovation Zone" and will be competing for awards in this edition. This innovative bioactive revitalizes the skin by promoting firmness, radiance, and cellular longevity while combating its natural degradation and oxidative stress, as well as stimulating taurine, an amino acid naturally found in the body. The ingredient is an extract of sustainably sourced and FairWild certified Lysimachia christinae, also known as Jin Qian Cao, an ancient botanical revered in traditional Chinese medicine. Every aspect of the ingredient’s supply chain is fully traceable, ensuring transparency from its botanical origins in China to the final product.
There is also Pepsensyal™, a high-performance peptide with slow-aging action that activates sirtuins, a group of enzymes that slow down aging and aid in DNA repair. The ingredient, which is more effective than the antioxidant resveratrol, helps with skin regeneration and promotes a visible improvement in appearance, firmness, and skin texture.
Among the ingredients, the highlight is the line of natural O/W emulsifiers, Emulgade® Verde. Versatile and gentle, they offer excellent stability and compatibility with various cosmetic ingredients. Suitable for sensitive skin, they are a good choice for microbiome-friendly concepts, and allow for the creation of diverse textures in sustainable formulations, ensuring performance and comfort. Meanwhile, Lamesoft® OP Plus is a new high-efficacy opacifying dispersion based on wax for cold processing. Readily biodegradable, it also serves as an alternative to synthetic styrene acrylate-based ingredients, providing additional benefits in terms of sensory experience and combability.
In addition to the ingredients, the company will showcase prototypes of formulations that meet the key consumer demands in sun protection, skin care, hair care, and scalp care. Inspired by nature's adaptations and resilience, BASF envisions a future where science, sustainability, and transparency go hand in hand.
