Controlling the foam

Cleaning conveyor belts, pipes and tanks usually means halting production – so time is at a real premium for these Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) processes. The last thing crews need is a cleaning agent that goes overboard on foam production and takes an age to rinse off. 

The obvious solution is to add a defoaming agent to the cleaner. However, being hydro-phobic, conventional defoamers are difficult to use in water-based products. They also have a risk to deposit on hydrophobic parts like sealings. BASF overcomes this challenge with versatile low foamers and defoamers that are easy to formulate, which saves time on the factory floor. Cleaning results are consistent even at low temperatures.
