Standing Forest

Innovation supporting the Amazon bioeconomy

15% of the world’s biodiversity is found in the Amazon. Standing Forest is how BASF transforms this richness into innovation without taking anything away from the forest—developing responsibly sourced Personal Care solutions from non-timber forest products and contributing to the region’s social development.

A vast green ocean—and a responsibility

Latin America is home to 50% of the world’s biodiversity, 23% of its forests, and 15% of its land mass. Biodiversity loss is the next major sustainability challenge in ingredient sourcing, and the beauty industry is being called upon to respond.
Consumers are paying attention
65% of Brazilians are willing to pay more for “clean” products, and 52% say deforestation is one of the environmental issues that concerns them most. 39% of Gen Z consumers in the region refuse to buy from brands they consider unsustainable.
Our ambition
BASF aims to be the preferred chemical company enabling our customers’ green transformation: reducing CO₂ emissions by 25% by 2030 and achieving Net Zero by 2050. Protecting the world’s forests is part of this commitment.
What we believe
It is possible to meet consumer demand while caring for the planet and its people. By preserving the world’s largest biome and creating value for the communities that live there, we can build a sustainable future for everyone
